Description: This project started with a typography exercise called illustrated word. I also like to think of it as words at play. Matteo Bologna would call it type masturbation. Editorial work continues to be very influential in my web design.

A valuable piece of inspiration for this piece was the image library at the mid-manhattan branch of the New York Public Library. There they have a catalogue of thousands of images. The most interesting images were etchings and lithographs. These images are incorporated throughout the 4-page editorial spread. The style has also influenced other work like the kinetic typography exercise I completed a couple of months later.

Designing for the web to look like print is a solid base for a web designer. One of the first questions I ask a client is what magazines or books are their favorites. This helps us realize strong visuals and professional layouts.
